Bienvenue à ce nouveau Membre Correspondant au sein de l'AESAL

Dominique Lemaître, after studying literature, musicology, electroacoustics and composition, managed to synthesize them all and write for various combinations of concert instruments : his seven pieces for solo instruments, his string quartet, his pieces for orchestra, his mixed works with electronical support, his collaboration with many artists are a testimony to the variety of his work.

Since his early works, still influenced by the admiration he has for Bach, Debussy, Varese, Ligeti, Scelsi and extraeuropean musics, he has managed to create an acoustic world of his own : a stellar, transparent music, a methaphoric music of forces, either telluric or translucent ; a music mingling the softness of timeless held notes of elaborate sounds with an inner violence, although restrained and poignant.

Tellus (for orchestra) or Ophoïs (for marimba and guitar) testify his abilities to explore new regions where perfectly mastered instrumental gestures are added to creative audacity : the communion between the instrumentalist and the intention that triggers off the movement can be heard and seen, a detached language addressing "new and fertile countries"...
